Here we are at Americas Downhill, the Birds of Prey at Beaver Creek, Colorado! It is always a great place to race every year since the hill is prepared better than any other hill on tour, and it is just so damn fun to ski. Today was out first training run and the hill is prime for anyone to ski fast. Like a lot of racers, I took it easy today to check out the hill and see how it all runs. Tomorrow is going to be a better test for the race as we push and test out the race day line and intensity. It is really fun having my girlfriend here to take some photos and be a fan! Also I cant wait for my family to show up tomorrow just in time for race day on Friday!

World Cup 2011-2012: Week 1

| The first training run of the season at Lake Louise |
The season has started once again, and life is back to crazy with traveling and competing every week at the next big World Cup Race! Last weekend was the first Dh and SG in Lake Louise. It went quite well, and I scored world cup points in both races. It is really nice to start off the season like that, with two solid results. Its good to gauge yourself against the rest in the world and see how fast you are going! I am now in Beaver Creek gearing up for the Birds of Prey Dh and SG next weekend and am looking to jump up into the top 20 in those races!

Squaw Valley Opens in Four Days!
I love my home mountain! Check out this video filmed during last seasons record breaking snowfall season! Those were some good turns. Lets hope this season is the same! Squaw opens on Wednesday! Four more days! Checking out the weather forecast there are storms lined up over the Pacific, and conditions are going to be great in no time! I also have to applaud Squaw on their snowmaking efforts this season. The Race team has ben training on Searchlight since November 9th, and Red Dog is looking good for opening day on the 23rd!
Here is too a great 2011-2012 season!

High Sierra Photo Shoot
Here are a few photos from the High Sierra photo shoot that took place two weeks ago in Boulder, Colorado! It was super fun to try something new and be in front of the camera. High Sierra has some pretty sweet bags and some of their new stuff is super cool! The pack that I wore skiing was awesome! I was able to strap on my super wide Atomic Atlas powder skis with ease and hiking around with it was super comfortable and practical! Its a great pack!
And yeah I skied in Boulder two weeks ago (November 4th) on about 6 inches of snow and grass! haha

Flashback! Training Last Year in Vail
Another world cup season is about to begin and I was just looking through some of my old videos and this one jumped out at me! We travel the world finding the best snow to train on during the off season, and the training that we get back home in the US is always some of the best. This year at Vail was amazing and last year was the same! Here is a little clip of SG from last season at Vail. I am fired up for a new season!

Winter! First Day of DH and First Pow Turns at Vail
Its day four of my winter out here in Colorado, and wow, its been a great start to the season. The temps have been cold here in Vail and Copper and there has been a few inches of snow each day since I got here. I started out the camp with some great days of GS and Super G and then finished off the first 4 day training block with an awesome Downhill session at Copper Mountain, followed by a skin ski to the top of Vail which included the first face shots of the season. A fun change of pace from the intense training of the last few days.
By chance I met up with local split board shredder, "Sofftie", and he showed me around the mountain near the Northwoods Express lift. We ended up skiing Prima followed by Pronto linking to Log Chute. The snow at the top was great powder. I wasn't hitting anything underneath. Then Pronto started to get a little thiner, and by the time I got to Log Chute at the bottom I was log hopping and bush "whacking" my way to the bottom.....
What surprised me the most was the amount of tracks back there. Had I missed the memo? Had the lifts been spinning the day before I hiked my ass up there? I don't think so, but it was truly amazing to see the traffic in that area this early in the year. I did see a group of pretty mediocre snowboarders on my skin up going down without any touring gear. On the way down I passed them waiting at the bottom of one of the lifts as if it was going to open for them.... Which it probably did. So sorry Vail skiers. Your mountain will be all tracked out on opening day. Is that what uber corporate ski areas are like? Hmmm..
Anyway, it was a super fun day and a great first ski tour of the year!
All in a days work! A little DH training, a little ski touring and pow skiing, and here is Joe, my ski service man getting everything tuned up and ready for the next day of skiing. He is working hard getting the Downhill skis all ready for the first World Cup of the season at Lake Louise, only 20 or so days away!

Halloween, Wind Tunnels, and the Beginning of winter!!!
Its been quite some time since I posted anything on here. I have a lot of catching up to do. It feels like the last month of my life flew by at "Ludicrous Speed", and I have had no time to contemplate and reflect on all of my crazy adventures. From skiing in Chile and one last hand surgery in Vail, to testing out aerodynamics in a wind tunnel back east at the same place that they test the space shuttle, and getting in as many workouts as possible I barley even noticed the change from summer to winter! And yet here it is! Winter is back. She roared back to life all over the US in a big way and now I find myself in Vail, watching the snow fly and getting all my equipment organized to start skiing again! Let another season begin. I am so fired up and cant wait to have that first pow turn, or race my first downhill. In stead of writing out all of my adventure for you, ill replace words with photos....
(and i hope to get back on the blogging bandwagon a little more now that we are skiing!)
