First Two Days in Alaska with Warren Miller

Wow we nailed it with the timing here in AK!  For three days before we got here it was raining and foggy, and then Tom Day, Danny Day and myself show up and BAM!, the first two days of the trip are blue bird and amazing.  My first time here to Points North Heli in Cordova, and my first time filming with Warren Miller, and Im like,"Wow I guess its always sunny in Alaska!" Haha-It looks like the luck is on our side with the weather.  The trip has started out well with some amazing conditions and we are already pushing it pretty hard.  I am lucky enough to be shredding with Mitch Toelderer, an amazing big mountain snowboarder from Innsbruck who charges as hard as anyone and is a super humble person to be with in the mountains.  I am learning a lot from him and its fun to start pushing it a little! All these photos on this post were taken by Mitch! Thanks Mitch, and nice work yesterday sending the first run ever down "The Rattlesnake". That was burly! It looks like sun for another few days so ill try and send an update soon! 

This line is called Tapas! I skied the lookers right spine and Mitch the lookers left! This was my third run ever in the Chugach.

 This is called Bubbys! We skied it on day two and it was amazing blower powder! I am sure we got a shot from it. I skied the prominent spine/ridge off the top and Mitch the big spine on the peak to lookers right!

Unorthodox Arrival to Cordova Alaska

Our arrival to Cordova was a little tougher than planned! An avalanche across the road from the airport to town made us take a small little prop plane to Cordova's other airport which resembled the shoulder of a highway!?!? Anyways, we made it and now its time to ski with Points North Heli Ski and the Warren Miller Crew. Everyone who works up here is from the Tahoe/Squaw area which is sweet! Feels like home already!

Spring Powder Skiing: Jakes Peak, West Shore Lake Tahoe

Winter is still here in Tahoe! Jordan Basil, Adam Henriques and I skinned up Jakes this morning and were treated to 2500' vertical of nice powder!  Backcountry skiing on the west shore of Tahoe is always so much fun.  The views are amazing looking down at the lake and the high north facing peaks always hole the best snow! The snow should stay good for another few days up high so get out there and get your powder skiing fix while you still can! 

Squaw Skiing! First Palisades Session of the Year

It is so nice to be home skiing all the familiar lines and seeing friends who have been charging Squaw all season.  It is still winter out here in Tahoe and things are finally filled in and skiing amazingly.  Skiing the Chimney Sweep and Easy Street off of the Palisades has to be one of the more intense 3 seconds of skiing anywhere.  Getting ready to push out of the start gate at Kitzbuhel might be a little more scary, but they are close.  You never really know what is going to happen while you are accelerating from 0-60 in only seconds (both at Kitz and skiing Easy Street and Chimney), but thats why it makes it so fun, and if you just take your mind out of the equation and let your skiing skill take over, it truly is east!
